It sounds so much like Mr. Flintstone’s famous phrase when it was quitting time as he raced by foot in his ‘rock’n car to see Dino, Wilma and Pebbles. Although with that same excitement… I am not moving to the town of Bedrock, rather the desert city of Abu Dhabi! From one desert to another, I am will be leaving Vancouver, BC and my job promoting tourism to Palm Springs, California to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and will join the opening Sales and Marketing team for a brand new five-star (and might I add – stunning) hotel.
Maybe the name of my blog is starting to make more sense, When the Rum Is Gone, because – It is certainly not going to be as plentiful as I have had it in Canada. However, there are so many exciting things that are going to be keeping my taste buds thirsty. The hotel itself, in its pre-opening stage, will be an amazing adventure and I am sure will consume a lot of my time. As for life in Abu Dhabi… well, this will be my first time there, so I have a lot of surprises ahead I am sure… but as one of the richest cities in the world with a ridiculous amount of development and opportunity sprouting from the UAE, I will be witness to some of the most amazing things I have ever seen. Abu Dhabi is the home of the World’s fastest roller-coaster at Ferrari World, the leading airline of the world ‘Etihad Airways’, the World’s tallest sand dune, a new Louvre and Guggenheim Museum and will expect 3 million travelers per annum by 2015.
So, here goes! I am in my final month of being in Canada (for a while) and gearing up for the biggest adventure of my life. …and of course, looking forward to sharing with you. Aboooo-Dhabi-Doooo!
